Exploring PN-100 — A High-Performance Additive For Detergents and Cleaners

Thanks to its ability to boost the performance of anionic surfactants — which are the main ingredient in detergents — PN-100 is an excellent high-performance additive for various household and industrial cleaning solutions.

Let’s take a deep dive into this performance-enhancing chemical, including the ways it can help detergent formulators save on costs.

What is PN-100?

A polyethyleneimine ethoxylate, PN-100 is a non-ionic and water-soluble polymer that improves detergency and inhibits stain redeposition and graying in clothing — even at low temperatures. It features an excellent performance profile and works as a performance booster for surfactants, enabling detergent formulators to reduce the surfactant dosage and unlocking cost savings.

As we’ve demonstrated in tests, adding 8 parts per million (ppm) of PN-100 to an anionic surfactant solution reduces the critical micelle concentration (CMC). These results imply that PN-100 interacts with the anionic surfactants within the solution, enhancing micelle formation and making it possible to reduce the surfactant dosage.

PN-100 also features its high compatibility and can be easily formulated into standard or concentrated liquid or tablet dosages. It’s suitable for a variety of homecare products, like dishwashing and hard surface cleaner, along with industrial and institutional detergents.

Other features of PN-100 include:

  • High solubility in many kinds of solvents.
  • High dispersibility of various particle types.
  • High compatibility with various types of surfactants.
  • Coordination adsorption capability to metal surfaces.
  • Low effect on viscosity due to its highly-branched structure.
